Hi! My name is Briana Richins, and here at Sensational Shelties, our mission and goal is to breed healthy, happy, and well-socialized toy and mini shelties AKA Shetland Sheepdogs. We are dedicated to preserving the breed's unique qualities that they are loved so much for while ensuring that each puppy is a cherished member of a loving family.
We focus primarily on producing a smaller, refined sheltie similar to the UK and British style standard in their build, leading us to refer to them as their nick name- toy or mini sized shelties. These are actually the same regular standard shelties that we all know and love, just bred to be smaller.
I got my first sheltie in 2008, but have been breeding since 2017. My shelties are a huge part of my life, and I cant imagine not having them in my family! I grew up loving shelties since childhood because my grandparents had one. Skipper was a big part of why my heart was set on this breed. He was a larger sheltie though and I was just a child so I actually thought he was a ‘Lassie’ dog, so I grew up completely set on getting a Rough Collie someday, so when I grew older and learned he was actually a registered sheltie, my heart decided I need both I guess!
So I as soon as I got married I got a sheltie and then a collie right after. My first sheltie was tiny which led me to want more and more, and it was that reason I decided to get into shelties more than Collies just because of the easier maintenance and convenience of size, even though I highly recommend both of them! After that first sheltie I dreamed of someday breeding some of my own shelties, and now here I am finally able to share this wonderful breed with others!
